Dancing on the Wall

The idea of the wall sort of developed. I've always had a fascination with stone walls and walls in Jerusalem in particular so I thought, "um, I'll start with a wall and an arch and go from there".

Next I looked up photos of archways to see how they layed the brick on the top of the arch and what the arch looked like from different angles.
After creating the basic sketch of the stones I added in the little nooks, cracks, and details of grass poking out here and there.
The idea to put a tree inside of the archway came from a photo I found which actually had the tree in front of the gate. Me, liking to be original put the tree (which is similar to the photo) on the inside of the gate to claim it as my own.
Later after searching for photos of gates I found a photo Here which inspired me to put a door through the gate and add a person standing in it. Now, I changed the person obviously because who needs a naked man standing in the doorway? hehe
