Renoir Study: Stage 5

Stage 5: Today I worked on the right side of the face adding more pink tones.
Then I started on the hair and parts of the hat.
Afterward I focused on the lower left side of the painting trying to get a light mustard and blue area happening. I repainted it twice because I didn't like the way the branches were going. Later I focused on the neck a little, and then began painting the water on the top.

This is what I see when I'm painting. On the Easel, I usually park the end of my palette on the tray so I don't have to hold my arm up. Works for me. I don't really look much at the picture to the right. It's a calendar of Renoir's works, but I'm at the point where I'm just looking at hints of color around the canvas. I think there's something about Renoir that makes his faces seem to glow, I'm not at that level obviously, .... yet. ;-)

The palette. Well, I start with about 8 or 9 colors and by the time I finish I've messed up my pile of white and it's sort of irritating because I want to paint something completely white and my brushes are already spent for the session. Next time perhaps.

Oh, the broken paint brush. That was an accident. It dropped on the floor and broke in half, and it was my favorite brush because I like to find the smallest brushes for details.

Leonid started his own painting on the other side of the room. He didn't know I took the photo until I showed him so I'm not sure what he thinks of me snapping the photo and putting it online. lol

This is going to be an abstract or still-life painting of the sculpture you see on the very left.
